News headline

‘Save life of needy hard worker’ headline of a local newspaper grabbed my attention. I went through the whole news. It was about a labourer who met an accident by an unidentified vehicle. He was seriously injured and was admitted to the hospital.

He is a poor man who can’t afford treatment. His friends and close ones are bearing the expenses. His little ones need their Dad badly. Anybody who wishes to help him can donate for him on available contacts. And the positive responses have started coming as there was a pocket-sized list of donors. :-)

What do you want to read in the morning; scandals, rapes, murders, blasts and other spicy stories or such a common man story with an optimistic approach in it?

  1. Chandrika,

One needs to exercise caution as many a times such appeals have turned out to be frauds too.

    Take care

  2. You know something ? I don't read newspapers, really ! I really do feel that they are made up for these bad news which attacks your mood and the mental state...on the other hand I also feel one needs to be updated of what's happening around..but when then 'happening' is all the same in each corner of the world then what does one do ?

  4. Your question about what do you want to read reminds me of the need for local and community news, as well as the big stories.

  8. Today's newspapers are full of such sad stories, that sometimes I scan the headlines before deciding on whether to read the story or not.

  9. But thats exactly all thats happening.Though i still feel we give it undue weight.

  10. I hate reading the newspaper... it has crap in it... Total junk... and the sole purpose of a newspaper has already been destroyed...

  11. I would like to start my day reading the newspaper with positive thoughts and recognizing more good in the world. I sometimes feel that we are not getting accurate stories as the media can put their own spin on things to....I am appalled at what some people consider to be news and at times it can be not much more than a gossip column....oh lord you got me going on this one. have a great week ahead.

  12. I have mixed feelings about newspapers. Mainly, because newspaper circulation is a business and their main aim is to make money than to deliver "good, authentic" news.

These days I see that they are so much commercialized and lazy that the quality of the content is terrible - appalling if you will. Spelling mistakes, improper sentence construction, improperly researched news, repetition of news, etc. So, all I hope more than what type of news I get to see is that the quality of the content rises, so everyone can read rich, authentic news content.

And, of course, if newspaper can cover up the humanitarian causes too that will be a huge advantage. :-)

  14. Well this is not what all happens, ITs what the MEDIA prints... there is a big difference a lot of other news is there.. Anyway HELP I will be cautious.. been taken for a rid where supposedly i was helping a dieing man instead it turned out, i was helping no one....

Some day a law needs to be made to make sure MEDIA is also brought to the book its all about POINTS these days ........

  17. I would bet most would prefer Shohaib and Sania to a poor labourer...

I know a person working in a bank. She says the help puring in for such cases isnt overwhelming always.

I remember such a case in our company... The min salary here is 20k...and everyone was handing out money as if someone asked foe alms!!

  18. Honestly, I hate reading news, for they were told over and over again it pisses me off. But if the news is something good, then I'll love to hear it over and over.

  21. I would accept any news headlines so long as I dont see the picture of a politician and get to read a positive news line.
