“With closed eyes sitting for hours and hours doesn’t mean doing meditation. No, it is not meditation. Meditation means that you are totally involved in whatever you are doing. It may be cooking food, it may be servicing a poor or it may be doing your office work. Forget yourself in doing that task. And when you come out of it you have to erase the factor ‘I’ from it. You have to wipe out ‘I did that work’. This is what meditation means to be completely absorbed in work without thinking about the factor ‘I’.” A saint explained the meaning of meditation to an elderly woman.
Do you agree or disagree with the saint?

Absolutely, couldn't agree with you more.
ReplyDeleteTotal agreement :-)
ReplyDeleteso how many of us can become true meditators?
ReplyDeleteEmm. I like the concept but I am not 100% sure if I would apply this at work place. I mean, I work in an MNC where many people are trying to out-shine others. If I do something and remove the "I" factor, I will go no where in my career.
ReplyDeleteBut otherwise I completely agree with you.
Interesting! I often wonder what people think during meditation (as I could not concentrate just sitting with closed eyes, the common way of meditation)? My mind is always occupied with some thoughts, except when reading something interesting or managing my blog. It means that I meditate quite often, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteGood thoughts...
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely true!
ReplyDeletecompletely agree!
ReplyDeleteI nourish some doubts and do not fully agree with the man.
ReplyDeleteA saint is a saint. Others are others. Meditation is for everybody !
ReplyDelete:)
true
ReplyDeleteI agree completely. So well put.
ReplyDeleteSounds like the way to put the ego to rest. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteChandrika,
ReplyDeleteFinally I can start visiting as my PC is repaired. Read all pending posers. And here I go on some of those :
At times menus are confusing with fancy names but one can always find what one likes.
Friends are not just for fun but for support too.
Miss L should respond with statement that at last the dog has got freedom from her ex.
Congratulation on 1 year here.
Blue Shirt should have resolved it amicably with parents.
Your friend floored you diplomatically.
I agree with Meditation as one needs to leave EGO behind and involve fully in work.
Take care
Hmmm.... Meditation..!! I think he is right.
ReplyDeleteIt is true that meditation means fully in to the work what we are doing. But i am not agree with the "I" factor. My fact is that do not worry about the outcome of the work, fully into the work without expect that "what others will say about my work".
ReplyDeletewow! i never thought like this .ya i loved it and totally agree.
ReplyDeleteForget oneself and remove the ego.... wonder when many of us will reach such a level
ReplyDeleteI was told that anything with immense mind involvement is called concentration...
ReplyDeleteMeditation is when the object we are concentrating on is something divine!
It's an interesting take. But I'm not sure if meditation really means that. Isn't it more about thinking about something real deep and delving deep within?
ReplyDeletemeditation is- doing things which relaxs your mind.. and its subjective opinion.. what my mind need to relax would be different from your.
ReplyDeleteAgree to the first sentence. But unfortunately meaning of meditation is divulged in the blog. What is explained is dedication
ReplyDeleteTotally agree! There's no point in quiting everything for a spiritual upliftment when everything can be found insode you.
ReplyDeleteHI,
ReplyDeleteIT IS TRUE BUT IN MOST OF THE CASES IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO CONCENTRATE IN EVERY WORK BUT WE MUST TRY TO DO.
AJAY AGARWAL
Closing the eyes and sitting for hours can be called sleep! :)
ReplyDeleteWell.. meditation.. what a beautiful explanation that was!
@ everyone : Thanks a lot. :)
ReplyDeleteMeditation means to me is to Run 20KM without break early in cozy morning, it means to me is to go on biking to Himalayas for months and never come back.
