Saturday Night Market, Arpora

I was quite surprised to notice a middle aged woman selling ready made garments at Saturday Night Market in Arpora, Goa who spoke confidently to a customer in Russian.

On asking she told me that she could converse well in Hindi, Marathi, Kannada, English, French, Russian and Spanish.

I know only my Mother tongue and English.

How many languages can you speak confidently?

    Wow. That's amazing. I'd love to be able to speak that many languages. I can speak Cantonese, but not fluently. We lived in hong Kong for three years so I learnt enough to get around. I can also speak smatterings of french and Spanish.

    I can speak Hindi, English, Bengali and Telugu and beginner's German and would love to learn French and Spanish..

    Wow...I know only Malayalam, English and Hindi....Love Bengali but do not know a word...tried learning French and Spanish, but could not come out in flying colours....

    Fluently I can speak English, Hindi and Bengali. And can manage with Marathi and Gujarati!

    In my case, I am not confident in any of the languages, when speaking is concerned, even my mother tongue.

    Oh wow! That's a lot of languages that women has known!!
    I am confident in Tamil and English! Well, to some extent Hindi and German!!
