Bicycle ride

One of my friends who was presently residing in Europe wrote on a social networking site as :
Going on bicycle ride in 'NEW' forest.

I commented :
Hope you meet ‘TIGER’ there. ;)

In your opinion Tiger here refers to ‘man’ or ‘animal’?

    I am sorry, (as an European) I do not get the allusion of "tiger" - whatever he does, I hope he meets gentle people and not cruel beasts.
